  • Setting graphene up as a non profit

Just wanted to make users aware of Jack Dorsey’s interest in funding open source nonprofit development, particularly around privacy/freedom tools. He is interested in funding graphene to the tune of $1M but it appears not being a non profit is a blocker.

How do we make this happen? Seems like so much good could be done with that amount of money…

FYI, after learning graphene is not setup as a nonprofit, he dropped a million on calyx. I think he’s still open to funding graphene, but it needs to be setup right.

Good pile of money there, but I don't trust the guy as yet. I'd like to see the stipulations associated with the funds be made public.

I get the distrust and obviously graphene shouldn’t accept any money if it comes with strings attached they don’t like.

I’m hopeful they get the funding as it would likely multiply their ability to make this project even better than it already is.

Just to add clarity there is indeed work being done in the background to help facilitate this, updates will follow via official channels in due course should efforts be successful.

Please while I appreciate the interest such public declarations can engender, can I request some restraint on our communities part regards discussing any further conjecture surrounding the donation until that happens.

I have tidied the thread up of OT discussion of the OP, this thread is a General thread related to the project. A suitable Off Topic thread may be opened if necessary for the discussion to continue in good faith and humour.
