Premium SMS sending is not working

I can't send Premium SMS (parking sms) with the phone. Under special permissions --> Premium SMS access --> No app requested access. I want to use for this the built in Messaging app. How can I make this app to ask permissions to send Premium SMS message?

I've never heard of this, but maybe you can try to use Google's Messages app? The AOSP app likely lacks the feature you're looking for.

Any idea? It drives me crazy that I can't pay with my phone for parking. There must be a solution.

unwat Same problem. The message gets instantly blocked because it has no permissions to send Premium SMS message. This is a bug in the system.

unwat I tested more messenger app from store but no one has special permission to send Premium SMS messages.

You say that the app doesn't have permission. Can you post a screenshot of what the app says when you try to send a premium message?

The country I'm living in doesn't really utilize premium sms, but I tried it on my phone with one number I know of and Google Play Services asked for phone permission. Then the Messages app said the phone number wasn't formatted correctly. Is that what's happening for you?

unwat Hi, we don`t understand us, I tried out a lot of messenger apps and of course that in the system included Messenger app all woks well for any real telephone numbers. But in more countries there are some short phone numbers for different services such as for parking tickets ..., which cost money. For these messages in special permission / Premium SMS message you should select the "messenger app" tick OK for permission, and there is no one app for selection.

I am still encountering this on latwst GrapheneOS. I have tried Graphene's mesaging app, Google Messages, amd Fossify Messages. None of then are able to swnd premium sms to short-code numbers, because none of them are able to request the Premium SMS permission from the system. Under Settings > Apps > Special app access > Premium SMS, it simply says "No installed apps have requested Premium SMS."

This is clearly a bug, because normally sms apps do request that permission when needed. The fact that the apps don't even show up on that setting page as options to enable means that something is wrong with the Android system's handling od this permission.

Does anyone else acknowledge this problem?? Does it not affect most users somehow?

hemlockiv my default messages app has that permission and id never even heard of premium sms until now so i assume it came with that permission?

Lucario1829 yeah, so it's definitely some kind of a bug, since my default Graphene messages app does not show up in that permission list. Idk what is causing it or how to fix it tho, since it clearly doesn't affect many users :/

I wish there was a way to grant that permission using ADB, but I don't know of a way to grant special permissions

I can see the stock SMS app listed under "Premium SMS" in the "Special App Access" section (Pixel 8, 2025112100). I have not installed any other SMS app

Okay so are we trying to send these messages in a secondary user or primary, if secondary the stock messages app is still set as the default messages handler and phone/sms have been granted to the user?

If all the above is correct, the next thing to ensure is that you haven't set a cost cap limit with your carrier and your carrier account is setup to allow premium numbers and short codes.

The next is to check GrapheneOS settings and finally test with a message.
