Uphill1945 Hi I'm trying to install GrapheneOS trough Fedora 37, yes I know, it is not a supported OS. But I just don't have a reliable USB A to C cable, and my fastboot on windows never detects my phone. So I opted to using my laptop with a USB c port. Now I read the installation guide and read this: https://grapheneos.org/install/web#flashing-as-non-root I installed the android-tools package which included fastboot and it sees my device. But when using chrome, or brave and clicking the unlock bootloader button it says Error: Failed to execute 'open' on 'USBDevice': Access denied. I looked trough the forum but couldn't find this error. I hope maybe some of u guys could help me out! I tried running chrome in sudo but XD that didnt work and crashed my laptop
matchboxbananasynergy Uphill1945 Hi! I don't know how helpful I can be since you're running an unsupported OS, but I'll try! Can you tell me where you're obtaining your browser from? Please make sure it's not a snap/flatpak. To help isolate the error, please install Google Chrome with the official instructions on their website.
Uphill1945 matchboxbananasynergy I installed chrome trough the fedora RPM repository, no snap or flatpak. Though looking more trough the forum I've found that there are more people with this issue on fedora 37. example post Also I should have noted, I'm talking about the web installer.
matchboxbananasynergy Yeah... unfortunately, I think that the path of least resistance here is to simply not use Fedora indeed. What about another Android phone, do you have one lying around? It'd need to be pretty beefy and modern, especially in terms of RAM, though...
Uphill1945 matchboxbananasynergy Yeah I think that'd be the best option then. I only didn't do that because I use LineageOS, which is not a 'certified OS' like the guide recommends. And I gotta charge my phone XD Thank you for the help though, I appreciate it a lot.
Uphill1945 matchboxbananasynergy Update: After loads of extra headaches I managed to install GrapheneOS using my old LineageOS phone. Thank you for the idea, I missed that! I did have some issues though so I'll type them out here incase anyone looks for them on the forum: Error: Undefined I got this error because my phone did not have enough space. So try removing at least 20gb.
