  • Notifications aren't working in user profile

I'm using a Pixel 4XL and can't get notifications to work in my Play Services profile. They work fine in the owner profile however. So far I installed all 3 Google Play apps from the app store, clicked "sign in" on Google play store app to trigger initialization and gave play services unrestricted battery. I've been testing the notifications with my proton account and gmail but neither give notifications. I installed Gcam to see if google services were working and the camera works. Any help is appreciated.

Reinstall sandboxed google play, then reinstall proton and gmail. Should work.

Sandboxed Google play needs to be installed first, then apps that rely on it.

nrt so I created a new profile from scratch and made double sure to install all google services apps first, hit login and made sure battery was unrestricted and then installed the apps that need them but still no luck.

If you uninstall sandboxed google play in 1 profile you need to reinstall in the other profiles, in my experience. Also youtube and gmail need to be reinstalled as well otherwise they crash when attempting to launch.
I suspect you installed sandboxed google play in secondonary profile before you uninstalled sandboxed google play from owner profile? If you did you need to reinstall in secondary profile: 3 google apps plus proton and gmail (and youtube if you have that).

And reboot after reinstalling sandboxed Google play

GCam only needs GSF to work.

If you in any profile (owner not needed) install Play Services by tapping Play Store in the Apps app and tapping install (installing all 3 GSF, Play Services and Play Store together) followed by any apps you want to use FCM (Firebase Cloud Messaging) for Push from Play or Aurora they should detect Play and FCM on first use and provide notifications as required. If not using your Play profile as main, daily driver or regularly you will need to wait a while until all queued notifications arrive one after the other.

Nothing has worked. Today I completely wiped my phone to start over. Main profile has nothing googled related in it. The google play profile was created, google service apps were installed via the Apps app, I hit sign in on google play store, battery and background data is unrestricted and still nothing. Gmail, however does now work but is the only app that sends notifications. Protonmail will only look for new emails when the app is opened but no notifications, same thing for other apps like my Eufy doorbell. I believe the apps can somewhat detect play services is installed, protonmail for example will give me a warning about not getting push notifications when play services aren't detected but it's not doing that. Unless I'm missing some detail I'm installing the play services apps correctly but push notifications just aren't working.

What OS version are you on?

nrt I installed SQ3A.220705.003.A1.2022070800 beta and it set play services battery usage to optimized (I changed it back to unrestricted); it caused signal and other apps to stop receiving push notifications. So I reinstalled those apps and push notifications work once again.

I'm on SQ3A.220705.003.A1.2022070600, If I remember correctly when I wiped my phone yesterday and installed everything fresh, I had to set play services to optimized manually. Reading that you had to reinstall apps after changing it, I just tried uninstalling and reinstalling but as before only Gmail notifications are working.

Play services battery usage should be set to "unrestricted"

And keep in mind protonmail is experiencing issues.

nrt correction, I meant I set play services battery to unrestricted manually. I thought maybe it was just protonmail cause I know they're having service issues but no other apps are sending notifications either.
