The X app has been working great on grapheneos ever since I installed it about 9 months ago, but a few days ago there was an update and now I get the error

Check that Google Play is enabled on your device and that you're using an up-to-date version before opening the app.

I didn't previously have google play services or the play store installed, but in my desperation to get X to work again (after several reinstall attempts), I installed them. However, X is still throwing me the same error when I try to load it up.

Is there any fix or workaround for this issue? Also, just so you know, I'm probably at noob level in terms of tech savvy when it comes to this new operating system. Thanks.

So I reinstalled X after installing google play services and the play store, and X started working again. I then uninstalled the google stuff and X returned to now working. Is there no way to use X without having google on my phone?

    Just use X inside of ad blocking Browser like Brave and your good
