Does anyone know if there is an option to always prefer WiFi? I'm in a medium signal WiFi power space and my pixel 7 on GOS keeps switching to mobile data draining my monthly allowance. I keep having to manually switch mobile data off and forget to turn it on when I go out, missing messages.
So far I've switched off "always allow mobile data" in developer mode but I am not confident that'll do what I need it to. Basically I want to stay on WiFi even if the signal goes to 1% - if there's ANY WiFi signal, then I want it using WiFi no matter what.
Thanks for any advice!

If you do not depend on being reachable via legacy calls and SMS, you can consider toggling airplane mode on whenever you have a WiFi connection available. Your battery would benefit from this as well.

If you need those, you should be able to use Wi-Fi Calling with some extra steps. Bear in mind Wi-Fi Calling has it's own caveats, such as your service provider being able to see which networks (IP addresses) you connect to. It also exposes additional attack surface.

It could be easier for you to remember that you need to disable airplane mode when going out.

IcyScroll Thanks for the reply, the only solution that'll make a difference for me is a way to force WiFi though. I was hoping there was a way to set the WiFi signal threshold lower somewhere... Anyway, cheers :)

I'm legimatly interested, and uninformed about this. If possible, could u provide me a read explaining the why and how?

I kinda feel lazy not researching it while i've read it, but on the other hand there's now very good information bundled in this thread, which has it value in itself.

GOSUser72 Well, airplane mode would definitely force your phone to use WiFi connection as then that would be the only option :)

Unfortunately, I don't think there is anything else you can do right now. You either have to disable mobile data or cellular as a whole via airplane. I will be happy to be wrong, though. I would hate to have my data plan wasted while connected to a WiFi network too.

Be aware that having developer options active on a production device is advised against by the GrapheneOS developers. Nevertheless, do report if it helps you.
