Hi there,
So I'm just about to purchase my first Pixel (a 7 Pro) and load it up with GrapheneOS. I'm ready to accept most of the usability issues but there's just one thing I haven't been able to find an answer to anywhere. Does GrapheneOS have RCS support (yet)? I understand it has it's links to Big Daddy Google but it's still better than standard SMS which doesn't have any form of encryption. It's not the end of the world if it doesn't support it, just means I just have to forcefully convert the family group chat to Signal lol.
Thx
RCS support on GrapheneOS

No, the default sms app from AOSP doesn't support RCS.
But it's possible to use google messages and activate RCS on it, if you have play services

Nopesef if you want to minimalize the google apps on your phone. You can install Messages (Googles MMS) from Aurora Store and use the graphene's app called "APP" to install "Google Framework" as that's all is needed to allow the app to work. Hope this helps!
NOTE: If your using several profiles, having google messages on one and the AOSP on an alternative profile. It will cause an issue of sending duplicate messages. A fix is for all profiles to use the same MMS app. (Not all MMS apps my have this issue.)
Bradman117 Ahh okay, I may give this a try then when I get the phone. Thanks mate
Bradman117 Are using RCS/chat features in Messages? What carrier are you on? It seems I need GP Services in order to use RCS on Xfinity mobile.
Until I installed Play Services and Play Store, Messages said my device did not support RCS. Once Messages "verified" my device, I can revoke all permissions of GP Services and disable GP Store, and RCS still works. But once I disable GP Services, Messages complains immediately and disables RCS.
puzzle are you still having good luck using RCS with xfinity mobile? I am considering switching to GrapheneOS
I can't make this work either. I have been waiting patiently for my number to be verified but with no luck. Have someone found the bare minimum to make RCS on GOS work?
