I just set up graphene for the first time on a pixel 7pro. It works fine, except for two annoying issues:

1) i can't get a GPS signal working in my maps apps (tried google maps from aurora and OSMand)

2) my phone won't access my contacts and only shows the phone numbers of people calling. I can see my contacts (including all their details) in the contacts tab though. I'm using the standard phone/contacts that comes with graphene.

I double checked the permissions for my phone, contacts and maps-apps, from what I can see they all have the necessary permissions.

I know my way around computers, but I'm by no means an expert in any IT related topic, so feel free to dumb down your suggestions significantly.

Thank you guys...

Try going outside and/or using the GPSTest app?

de0u tried that, it keeps on scanning, but no results. It says SBAS satelites not available in the bottom..

SBAS is a secondary concern, I think. GPSTest shows no satellites at all? Are you standing outside with a clear view of the sky?

Suave okay, that might be the reason. Seems to affect few people though, since there would be much more noise, if it was a general problem, right?

de0u yeah tried that on my balkony for about 15 minutes twice now. But there seem to be larger problems, judging from @Suave s reply.

Have you got any idea about my contacts problem too by any chance?

            Thank you for answering btw...

AUs0r Have you got any idea about my contacts problem too by any chance?

Where did the contacts come from? Were they imported from some other platform? Are the phone numbers formatted differently than the call entries in the log?

Suave GNSS is working fine and if there was actually the kind of issue you're claiming with a recent OS update, we would have been inundated with a massive flood of issue reports. It's definitely not the case.

AUs0r AUs0r It's clearly not the case that GNSS isn't working due to recent OS updates. There are not a dozen GrapheneOS users but rather between 200k and 300k on the most recent releases. There will always be people complaining about issues even if only because of hardware failure rates. There is no evidence of any GNSS regressions in recent GrapheneOS versions. There would be a lot of people complaining if GNSS wasn't working for even 1% of users.

GrapheneOS yeah that was my feeling too. Do you guys have any idea hot i can fix my location problems?

As for contacts: do you have one user profile on phone? Of not in which profile contacts are imported and in which profile contacts/phone/message app is installed. Contacts don't migrate between profiled and you can install them to secure space, all apps space or one app only.

KitsuneNoBaka soo I just figured out that I'm an idiot. I Set up my telegram messenger before i inserted my SIM Card and the phone pulled all my telegram contacts, which are formated differently from what the phone app can read i suppose.
I imported my contacts from a .vcf file and it workes without a problem now.

Still no luck with my GPS though :(

AUs0r what are your SUPL and PSDS settings in
Settings > Location? Are you using sandboxed Play Services?

@AUs0r You have the global Location toggle enabled, Location granted to GPSTest and you're actively running it outside but getting 0 results showing on it? That implies hardware failure of the GNSS unit, which is possible but seems unlikely.

DeletedUser127 I am using Play services, which are sanboxed by default right? They have permission für location services while using the app.

SUPL and PSDS are both set to standard server, i also tried with the Graphene proxy

GrapheneOS yeah global location is enabled, permissions to GPStest are granted and i let the phone sit on my balcony for a solid 10 minutes multiple times while running gps test

AUs0r You could follow https://grapheneos.org/usage#sandboxed-google-play-configuration as a last resort to use Google's location service which might help if GNSS really is broken on the device. Note that using it means your location gets sent to Google.

GrapheneOS will have it's own network location service soon but the issue you're having might really be the GNSS being broken as the GrapheneOS account said.

You could try a factory reset just in case there's some sort of misconfiguration causing the issue.

soupslurpr wow thank you so much, that got my location working in maps at least.

But did I understand correctly, that this setup does not use actual GPS data, but pulls it from wifi/bluetooth only?
I still do not get any results in GPStest, so I wonder if my location will work, if I am in a remote area with no other devices/ wifi networks around.

AUs0r No need to change those. It would only be an issue if your network is blocking connections or if you disabled them.
