Hi folks,

I'm trying to create a new LINE account. The app's "Verify your account" page requires a Google account credential. I do have sandboxed Google Play service installed in my main profile. When I click "Continue with Google", I see a toast that says "No credentials available on this device".

LINE help docs indicate that, at least for US users, the phone number-based account creation workflow has been deprecated for a while:

LINE account creation using a phone number was discontinued from LINE version 13.11.0.

Instead, the user must log into a Google account. I believe I've done that already. Do folks know if the app may be touching some unimplemented surface of the sandboxed Google Play?

Thanks,
HB

I was able to work around this with the following:

  1. Created a new Google account.
  2. Logged into the new account, on a Chromebook.
  3. Installed the LINE app on the Chromebook using Play Store.
  4. Signed up for a new LINE account in the app.
  5. Transferred the LINE account to the GrapheneOS phone with the QR code method.

hbchai Thank you for updating the thread with your solution. It might help others who are searching for this in the future, even if it appears that you need a secondary device running a different Android variant to get it working.

In terms of the original challenge, I have filed an "issue" in the Github issue tracker for a different app with the seemingly identical issue of not being able to detect the Google account in Passwords & accounts.
