Problems with updating google services after A15

So after A15, the only way for me to update play store and google services is via the GOS app store. Play store always thinks its up to date when i press update inside it, even though its a lot of versions behind (rn i have 43.7.19-31 and the one available on gos app store is 43.9.17-31) is it cause of the changes that happened to play services on A15 like removal of gsf (that i still have installed btw cause gos team reccomended to not uninstall it for now. i have it on version 14 if that changes anything). anything i can do to fix it? possibly without uninstalling play services/google play store/services framework and installing just google play store and play services, so i dont have to reinstall all apps that rely on them? if not will this pose any risks in the future?

Dumdum you're referencing a problem that was resolved over 10 hours ago, and wouldn't have been related to the problem/question OP is having anyway.

Except it describes the exact same problem that I and many others were having (being stuck on version 43.7.19-31). So yes, it is related. If the OP is still having this problem even after it was resolved, then I'm not sure what problem they're having. That still doesn't change the fact that the link at least describes why Play Store and services weren't updating.

well i did get that notification some time ago yes, but thats not the poblem im having. its that play store just refuses to update itself. i dont think that notif is related.

also very important info. i didint actually try to update the play store from the gos repo, just got a notif that update is available. id rather have it auto update itself/force update from withing play store itself so i know its working as intended

update, gos app store finally decided to auto update play store/gps though still no idea if described problem was fixed

can confirm play store still refuses to update itself, i checked the gmscompatconfig max supported version, its still higher than what my play store says is the newest

The difference is that I actually factory defaulted my phone after the A15 update, so it is a clean install without Google Play Framework. So that is definitely not the cause.

I am not updating Google Play nor Google Play Services through GOS app store at this point in time, instead I have been waiting for them to update themselves through Google Play. But I think enough time have passed now to say for certain it is broken. Or perhaps Google Play isn't supposed to be auto-updating itself anymore since A15?

faaaaaj Yeah, I did test a few things for the GrapheneOS developers and submitted log files some days ago. I guess they will get to looking into it eventually. It has been holidays and they have been busy preparing the 2024123000 release too.

I haven't heard anything about that update fixing the issue. I won't update from GOS App Store for now. Running a confirmed outdated version means I can debug better why the self-updating isn't working.

Google Play installed now is 44.0.28-31, and even if I click to manually check for updates in the settings, it says the version I am running is already the latest version.
