Delayed notifications and weird theme [pix8]

Same issue with notifications. I noticed the problem starting last week with Proton Mail notifications being delayed haven't noticed it elsewhere yet. Pixel 9 Pro XL GOS Build 2024111800. Google Play Services has allow background app usage enabled.

I have just learned you can tap on allow background usage and it will have more options like unrestricted as mentioned above. In my case Play Services was set to optimized so I changed it to unrestricted. However, I have never had this problem before so not sure changing the setting should be needed unless something changed on the OS side.

Now to wait and see if this solved the problem.

Sadly, changing play services to unrestricted background usage did not solve issue.

Thank you for looking into this, and for your contributions to the wonderful project.

Play Services battery settings was set to Optimized, so I changed it to Unrestricted. I will see if this resolves the issue, but like nate066 mentioned, I previously didn't have this issue for the year that I've been using GOS with the default Optimized setting for Play Services.

My Google Play Service version is 24.41.34, the latest version available for the stable channel that I am on.

muhomorr It is and has been set to unrestricted. I've been using GOS for about 3 years now and never had this issue before

GPS 24.41.34. It looks like it just happens when I have music playing in the background. When I'm on the job for example. Once I exit out I get notifications a few minutes later. I thought it might be a Spotify problem but it also does it with RiMusic.

Need to see full system log. Capture it right after a delayed notification by going to Settings > System > View logs > Share (or Save). Send the log file to one of the following places:

Matrix: @muhomorr:grapheneos.org
Discord: muhomorr_ (with underscore at the end)
Email: muhomorr@grapheneos.org

Also check whether Play services has permission to use mobile data in the background, even when Data Saver is on. Toggles for that are in Settings > Apps > Sandboxed Google Play > Play services app info > Mobile data usage.

I can reproduce this issue only when the "Mobile data > Background data" toggle is off for Play services (it's on by default) or when Data Saver is enabled and "Mobile data > Unrestricted mobile data usage" toggle is off for Play services (it's off by default).

Vagabond8630 I previously didn't have this issue for the year that I've been using GOS with the default Optimized setting for Play Services.

Lots of things have changed with Android 15.

@Smlvox Does it happen when you use mobile data? Does Play services have permission to use mobile data in the background (Play services app info > Mobile data usage)?

muhomorr So far it's happened when using mobile data. Haven't tried it with WiFi. GPS does have that permission

muhomorr It looks like my issue has been resolved. Background data was allowed but unrestricted mobile data was not enabled. I enabled it and had no issues today. I appreciate your help 👍
