MP3 Local Music Player Suggestions

Hi all,

I'm in the search for a good local MP3 player that has the queue feature implemented like Spotify, where for every song you queue, it gets added to the end of the queue list,
Rather than play next, which pushes your other queued songs back and plays it next.

Symfonium is the best player on android and as has that feature (add to queue, with a separate 'add next' feature). It is a paid app though.

[deleted] Metro is a fork of Retro and because Retro had not seen updates for a long time the creator of Metro forked it and opened up the paid features. Retro, iirc, was looking for maintainers and there is very slow work on it (last release was 2023). I do not believe we will see many updates unless someone takes over the project. It definitely has my favorite UI/UX.

I currently use Auxio even though it lacks LRC support and can occasionally run slow for large libraries.

I have been using VLC and it works well. You have the option to "append" or "add next" for a track, which I think covers the use case you mentioned. I used it on desktop since the 2000s so figured why not stick with what works? It is FOSS.

I highly recommend Symfonium. It has the queue behavior you're looking for and is feature-rich across the board. I use it for listening to music hosted on a jellyfin server, but it's compatible with many different providers as well as local files.

It's a one time $4.99 purchase, but for what you get it's a great deal. You can even purchase directly from the dev if you're looking to avoid Google Play altogether, which I'm sure will appeal to many on this forum.

How to make my favorite music player Auxio play directly MP3 attachments from the email app (K-9 Mail)?
For example - I receive an email with attached voicemail in MP3 format. Tapping on it opens Auxio but the mentioned MP3 is missing in the list and obviously - not playing. I guess it's something to do with permissions as probably K-9 saves it temporarily in its space/folder which Auxio is unable to access.
VLC by the way, works right away, playing from the K-9 app or any location (e.g. Downloads).

Even saving/downloading the attachment into the Downloads folder doesn't help Auxio play it. I think because Auxio refuses to add the Downloads folder to the list of "Music Folders" (privacy protection).

Oggyo You can set up your own inclusive/exclusive policy for which folders Auxio will search through.

That said, it shouldn't matter what folders you've included or excluded in those settings if Auxio is triggered from an "Open with" dialog. If it doesn't work, it could be considered as a bug, so you should contact the developer
