Hey,

do someone know a more secure and private Cloud Storage than Filen? (Should be Open Source and Zero Knowledge) - which would be the most secure and private one?

I use koofr. Can be bought anonymously with a voucher you can buy with xmr on proxysto.re and no personal data is needed to register. It also has 1TB lifetime deals if you look around. I use rclone to mount a secure folder on my computer so i can use it like a regular storage device.

      ProtonDrive, or self hosted.
You can also use something like Cryptomator with the traditional cloud storage (GDrive etc) for extra protection

I use Proton Drive. The storage limit for the free plan was increased to 5GB this past February.

I don't see how ProtonDrive would be more secure..

The implementation of E2E encryption in nextcloud is some kind of a mess at current state. It does not function quite well in terms of reliability also you can't access the files on the web frontend once you activate it.

The server side encryption is also not as secure as it seems bc the encryption key is stored as a file on the root folder of the instance.

Sabotagetrick17 If you self-host nextcloud, then the value of encryption is pretty much limited to instances of someone physically breaking into your home and running off with your server.

You are correct. But I just wanted to leave the Information here, so the user has all information available to make his decision.

In my option even you plan to run services just locally: If it's not encrypted don't use it (or use it with caution).

But anyway, if you want to use nextcloud and self host at your home you may want to expose it to the Internet. In that case maybe the information I give can come in handy.

Another possible solution to nextcloud is Seafile and run it as docker image for example. But that's for file sync only.

Edit... Sorry, i forgot about your ooen source requirement.....

Tresorit is solid, but you'll pay for it. I've had it for a couple of years and have never had an issue.

Is there a solution for using Koofr on Android without breaking the end-to-end encryption?

edit: on topic, there's also Mega, but it's only "source available" not "free". depends what type of "open source" you want.
