It does not connect in the main Owner profile, but it connects in a secondary user profile (no calls or SMS). I used the secondary profile for various things very often without a SIM in the phone. I had to put it in now, and noticed that Google Play Store fails to connect to Google servers in the Owner profile.
Settings and permissions seem to be the same. I also don't get the DCL via memory messages in the Owner profile.

LocaLola Just a quick thought, did you change the defaults for DCL via memory? The defaults are:

Google Play: DCL via storage allowed, DCL via memory restricted

Google Play Services: DCL via both storage and memory allowed.

By the way, I locked the other thread so that discussion is just in one.

The DCL settings are as you describe in both profiles.
I cannot find any setting that would be different, but there are too many to easily see where things go wrong. The log is cryptic to me, nothing in there that I could identify as the issue.
It's also interesting that Google Play is clearly acting differently, because I'm not getting the DCL via memory message.

other8026 I created a new profile to test things, and it works there. So there must be a setting somewhere that I'm missing. It may not even be a setting of the google apps (all of which I have checked by now)

Since there is hardly any of my own data in that Owner profile at the moment, I could easily restore it to default settings. Is there a way to do that without affecting the other user profile?

Did you remove the network permission for Play Store? Please check that first. I know you said that you checked settings for Google apps, but please double-check.

If you didn't revoke the network permission, there are some things you can try:

        • Clear app data for Play Store: Go to App Store > Google Play services > Google Play Store > Settings > Storage & cache > Clear storage

        • Reboot the phone (and cross your fingers that this is just a case of "turn it off and on again")

        • Make sure you don't have a VPN, DNS, or tracker blocking app running in the Owner profile which could be blocking requests to some Google domains

fid02 It worked! Thanks. I don't quite understand what went wrong, because the phone is regularly rebooted, but a result is a result!
The permissions were fine, I did check that. It's the other two that did the trick (not the VPN one, that does not apply)
