Hello Folks, I would like to install the main public strong authentication app in France (L'identité numérique), but it requires to be installed through the Google Play Store. I can see from other threads that the danish and german equivalent seem to have adopted the same behaviour. Is there any technical reason for that ?
Google Play and strong authentication apps
Yes. They're using that as just one more safeguard to make sure that app cannot be "hacked" and hackers cannot impersonate others. If they used strong cryptography and implemented it well it shouldn't be necessary, but it doesn't hurt to be super safe.
Games do this too to prevent people from reverse engineering the game, adding exploits / cheats, then playing with an advantage.
Sadly that means I shall have to install Google Play ...
