I can't get the kiss launcher to have the rights to lock the screen with double tap. With the TinyBit launcher it was absolutely no problem, but here there seems to be be an android setting I can't find.

Does anyone know how to do this?

I know this "double tap to lock" from LOS but not from AOSP, respectively GOS

Activate "double tap to lock screen" in the KISS settings: Settings> User Experience> Gestures> Double tap to lock screen.

If you now double-tap on the screen, a pop-up dialog opens with the following note:

"Double-tap to lock needs the Android Accessibility API. No data is processed, no data is stored. To use this feature, enable KISS in the following screen."

Click on "OK". This opens the devices's accessibility menu.

Tap on KISS launcher then select use KISS launcher

A warning pops up:

Allow KISS launcher to have full control of your device
...

with a note on what the app can do having access to Accessibility API:

  • view and control screen
  • view and perform actions.

Confirm with allow.

The "double tap to lock" gesture now should work.

If you want to withdraw KISS's authorization, you can do this via the GrapheneOS settings - Settings> Accessibility> KISS launcher.

I have already been in the gos accessibility menu after that prompt came up, should have been more clear about that. However the accessibility menu does not allow me to activate the setting for the kiss launcher due to "security restrictions". That's where I'm at right now and I don't know how to circumvent this.

To be honest, I can't tell you exactly why it's restricted for you and not for me.

      Maybe this will help you:

One more idea: Are you using a secondary user profile (you have limited access to some settings in user profiles compared to the main profile).

        Awesome, found the setting responsible:
Settings - apps - kiss launcher - top right corner menu (three dots).
I never noticed this menu before because usually it's not available, and its only purpose is to allow to lift restrictions.
It's possible the restriction was in place because I installed kiss via F-Droid.

        Thank you!
