How do I unhide my number? I'm trying to make a call and the recipient blocks hidden numbers.

PM001 I think this is carrier-dependent, so I would check your carrier's web pages.

PM001 Open the Phone app. Tap on the 3 dots in the top right corner > Settings > Calling accounts > [Carrier name] > Additional settings > Caller ID > Network default/Show number.

yore I am running GrapheneOS (build 2024072800) on a Pixel 6a with a Verizon physical SIM, using the built-in Phone app.

If I open the Phone app and tap on the ⋮ and then Settings, "Calling accounts" is not an option. If I tap on "Calls", "Calling accounts" is an option, but what I have then is:

      • Settings (tapping on that does nothing)
      • Make & receive calls (tapping on that does nothing)
      • Make calls with [Verizon]

If I tap on that last one, I get a pop-up that says:

      Make calls with
      [] Verizon
      [] Ask first
                           Cancel

I am not able to reproduce going from "Settings" to "Calling accounts", nor am I seeing "Additional settings" including "Caller ID". Are you using the GrapheneOS dialer?

de0u Yes, I'm using the default GrapheneOS Phone app with a physical SIM as well.

Can't say for sure why it doesn't show an option to hide the caller ID on your end but I would assume it has to do with your carrier. You might only be able to access it from the carrier's website and change your number's configuration.

Indeed -- I suspect that caller i.d. settings are carrier-dependent.

From a privacy, security, and general annoyance point of view, I wouldn't answer a hidden number either, or the caller is given a message to call back showing a number. Unless spamming someone, there is no reason to hide it. The phone is still traceable by those who need to, it is just that the receiver doesn't know if it is you or a call centre
