Pixel 5a, Release: 2024071200
On both of my Pixel phones I only get 35Mbps download speed. They used to be much faster like noted below.

On hard-wired computers I get the expected 200Mbs.
On a Linux laptop (wireless), I also get the expected speed.

I used two different speed check tools.

No improvement with the following:

I rebooted the Pixel.
On one Pixel, I put a different browser to see if perhaps it was Vanadium.
I tried both with and without the VPN connected.
Tried two different Wifi nodes.

An iPhone 15 I have works fine.

Am I missing anything in my logic in troubleshooting? Any ideas?

Thank you.

If it is your private WiFi network, you could consider switching that network from per-connection randomized MAC to per-network randomized MAC. I occasionally experience connectivity issues when using per-connection randomized MAC.

You can find the option in Settings > Network & Internet > Internet > Cog next to your WiFi network > Privacy.

Thanks for the quick reply. Same result after making the change.
I changed the setting, rebooted, rechecked the setting, and then ran the speed-test.

Perhaps the next OS update will change something. I am grasping here. Very strange.

My son's Pixel 6a with GOS works fine, very fast on WiFi.
    I matched all the settings.

There is simply something about both of the 5a devices I have.

Do you mean that you have tried two different WiFi networks?

    • IHD replied to this.

Do you have a case on the phone? Try removing it and clean the exterior of the phone.

I have the same issue on my Pixel 5 after updating to build 2024071600. I used to get 200mbps wifi speed before the latest update, now it seems to be throttled at 50mbps most of the time and even dropping to 5mbps occasionally. All of my other wired/wireless devices get the expected speed. Tried rebooting, turning private DNS on/off, turning mac-randomization on/off, connecting to a different node with different bands - no luck so far. None of the suggestions above helped either.

Finally! I am not crazy. Thanks for posting.

Experiencing the same issue on Pixel 5 with latest build. Honestly, unacceptable.

Edit: This appears to be due to a Google security patch from July. It was affecting several custom ROMs, some have since rolled back and restored proper wifi operation. Apparently, Google hasn't fixed it (screwing up their own hardware ffs).
