are you able to try with the Pixel Camera app installed using Google Play?

I tried installing it from the playstore, same issue....

Concerning the logs, it is not easy to catch relevant logs as the device crash completely, I could post more logs if needed.

Do you guys thinks It could be an hardware issue ?

The last thing I can try is to re-install stock ROM for trial, but I'm going to loose my setup :/ (although I can proceed to a device backup)

Although this is a huge pain to do, it may be the only way to rule out some sort of software or configuration issue as the cause.

You could also try a factory reset.

For me, I used the device fine for a year before going to GrapheneOS, I never had an issue with the pixel camera on stock.

If it counts for anything, I am using a pixel 7 pro, and the exact same version of Google camera.

I am on the latest stock android 14, I don't use graphene.

I am having the exact same problem. It'll crash after 1 or 2 photos every time.

It seems, the issue is not only related to Pixel Camera but the whole device...For instance, it crashes as (sometime) while installing new apps, or installing GOS update. Still Pixel Camera is the app that crashes the device the most.
Weird behaviour, crash occur more often in the afternoon than in the morning, I'm able to use camera for a longer time during the morning that the afternoon, all right, it sounds crazy... But, I think failures happen more often while the device gets hot. So I would go for a hardware issue.

What do you think guys ?

That is indeed pretty indicative of a hardware problem. What if you briefly refrigerate the device in the afternoon?

I am experiencing the same here. Pixel8.
I can take a couple of photos but then suddenly camera app crashes repeatedly and reboots itself.
Upon boot i am presented with kernel crash log and camera crash log.
Google play services is installed and camera app installed from Google play store.

JayJay This is a hardware failure, not a software issue. It's a standard error occurring when there's hardware damage.

Interesting, I'm still experiencing the same issue. However, through time, I figured out that it also happen when I'm installing / updating apps.

Pixel 7 Pro, GOS 2024121200, for a few weeks now I'm getting a repeatable crash from Pixel Camera after taking a single photo. I have Play Services installed, use Aurora not the Play Store, and allow Google apps special access to sensors. Camera doesn't have network access and I rarely update non networked apps, so I think it's been caused by a GOS update.

Anything I can do to debug it? Without debug symbols in the camera app is there much I can do?

I reinstalled grapheneos and still happens.

Are we sure is it a hardware failure? I see this issue is common and I see it in multiple places even in github issue but it is always said to be a hardware issue.

Is there a way I can help to find out the issue?

slowdown I'm pretty sure it's an OS problem because the stock GOS camera app works fine. The Pixel Camera works until after the first picture is taken, at which point it crashes. Sometimes the picture gets saved, sometimes it doesn't. I don't think that can be a hardware problem because the camera hardware is working perfectly.

Pixel 9XL pro opening graphene is cam and phone locks up. Have to hold the power button until it reboots. Can re-open camera and it will work.
