Hi is anyone else having crashing with the beeper app pertaining to Memory tagging, I reached out to support and the just said gruffly the know about the issue. I don't want to disable if it will compromise security

OfflinePuffin Could you attach the crash log so that we can determine whether it relates to Beeper or some other component of the system? It's likely Beeper but attaching the crash log that memory tagging outputs (not the system log) won't hurt.

OfflinePuffin It's a memory corruption bug in the app, or in a library the app uses. The app developers will have to fix this, or they will have to notify / work with the developers of the potentially affected library to resolve it. GrapheneOS can't fix memory corruption in third-party apps; that's really the job of the apps' developers. You are only aware of this because the OS takes advantage of hardware memory tagging which you have enabled for the app and it's doing its job of crashing it rather than exposing you to a potential security issue.

I'll bring that up with the other moderators. We could probably have a locked sticky post listing active moderators if the idea sounds good to them. There are some moderators who aren't as active on the forum, so using the flag feature is still the fastest way to get the attention of someone who is available.
