Issues getting apk into Obtainium

Currently setting up a Pixel 8 + GOS. I've installed via apk Proton Drive, Ente & Standard Notes, however I am unable to add their respective apk links to Obtainium.

I was able to do this successfully for Proton Mail and Proton VPN.

Also, is it possible to install Brave browser the same way?

Any ideas?

Hi, try adding them using the below instructions.

Make sure to add the word 'photos' in the section that says "Filter Release Titles by Regular Expression" when adding the app the first time. <-- This is important because it seems adding 'photos' after adding the app to Obtainium causes a conflict between package and app IDs.

Standard Notes

Make sure to enable "Include prereleases". Standard Notes release all their versions as prereleases currently so Obtainium won't add it unless you include them.

Make sure to add 'arm64Universal' (the U has to be capitalised for it to work) in the "Filter APKs by Regular Expression" section, which should give you the correct APK.

Edit: You will also need to add 'Release' to the "Filter Release Titles by Regular Expression" section, otherwise it will pick up the Beta version. ~~dammit brave~~

Dumdum awesome info thank you. I am having issues updating apps in Obtainium that I installed using APK links and just recently discovered it. I was wondering why the same apps were needing to be updated every time I ran Obtainium. It would even tell me the app was updated but still say a pseudo-version is in use, I refresh and then it'll show as if it never updated. Having issues like that on all the apps I downloaded via APK. Does that mean I have to uninstall/remove all those apps and reinstall with the filters to get updates to run properly?

Everything worked except Proton Drive. I have version 2.5.0 installed, and following your instructions, Obtainium is suggestion 357712508 is the latest version... Any ideas?

Unfortunately I don't have an answer to give you, as none of the apps I have in Obtainium are installed using a HTML link like Proton Drive. I can't seem to find a way to get Obtainium to detect the proper version ID, so I can only suggest to uninstall and reinstall through Obtainium.

Nandor I recommend trying the feature 'Import GitHub starred repositories', at the 'Import/Export'-tab in Obtainium. If you know the name of any github account, enter it, if the account has starred repos, it would show a number of available apps that you get to directly add to Obtainium. (Try mine if you like, my account name is Novaliss)

It helps having a github account with a personal access token, so the allowed number of github connections per hour gets higher.

Novaliss that's a great feature! I used it, one of the apps said it couldn't find a suitable release (cryptomator), another tried to downgrade an existing app (gcam photos preview), and the last gave me an unexpected error (appmanager, I have not been able to completely purge a previous install of that, I can find it on my app list but says it's not installed for this user and does not let me delete it, or open it, on the owner profile).
As for the currently installed apps via APK I need to update, could you tell me if I will need to delete those apps off all profiles prior to adding the appropriate download links in obtainium and do a fresh install?

You should first try 'installing' them with Obtainium, even though they're installed already, this makes Obtainium pick them up as eehm, say "Obtained", or included, or recognised for further updates from Obtainium. Make use of Appverifier if this doesn't work either, it might be a signing conflict.

This would be my first priority to solve. Appmanager up and running has been the first thing I do in android since about the last decade.

Novaliss I tried to add obtainium links for a few preexisting apps and I get the "already installed' error. The conflict error I get on appmanager also happens with syncthingy, I've tried force stopping the app on all other profiles (the only option I get in any profile) and going back to owner but still no option to completely delete. The apps worked the first time I downloaded them but after having to remove them and reinstall they fail. I agree appmanager is pretty important and I would really like to have it working again. I will try that APK, I just feel like it's something that didn't properly delete all the way. Appreciate all the assistance, this issue has been plaguing me for months.

You could try:
Settings > System > Reset options > Reset app preferences

And have you tried uninstalling Appmanager in all profiles, not just force-stopping it?

Novaliss the only option I get in any of the profiles is to force stop. All of them say the app is not installed on this profile. The owner profile gives me no options whatsoever not even to force stop.

Nandor I think you may have it enabled as a device Admin app.
Settings > Security and privacy > More security and privacy > Device admin

Novaliss nope, they don't show up in either. They only show on the app list, as disabled with no icon and showing the github address as the app name.
