looks neat. what's the consensus within the forum, pixel 9 or wait for pixel 10?
Pixel 9
That depends on the individual user.
If you can wait longer, wait longer. That's the advice for almost anything in tech.
Pixel 10 will have a new manufacturer so it will likely be faster and have better battery life. I'm waiting for the 10 anyway.
I am likely going to be upgrading from a Pixel 6 to a 9th gen Pixel when it comes out.
Another strategy is to wait for the Pixel 10 before upgrading, see how that fares in comparison to the 9, and if it's not great, you can still get the Pixel 9, presumably at a hefty discount with 6 years of support.
I'm focusing my money on getting off-grid for the coming years, the phone's gonna have to wait. Opting-out in the physical world represents a bigger security improvement for me than a device solution.

Exodus7675 10 is eumored to have TSMC manufactured chips designed by Google.
Current Tensor chips are Samsung manufactured based on the Exynos chipset if i recall correctly.

After using a Pixel 7 for the past twelve months, I would only ever want to use the largest available Pixel model partly so that I can have as much screen surface area as possible and partly to address Google's choice of height to width ratio. To give credit where credit is due, I think Apple's iPhones, for my needs, have the ideal screen ratio.
How this pertains to this discussion about the P9 series is that early information (below) says that the P9 Pro XL will be smaller than the P8 Pro.
I was planning to use the P7 for two or three years before upgrading. But based on this, I might buy the P8 Pro once the P9 series is launched.

"The OnLeaks x MySmartPrice piece says the Pixel 9 Pro will have a 6.5-inch display that would be notably smaller than the 6.7-inch panel on the 8 Pro."

This is funny, since I got rid of a Pixel 7 Pro because it was too big.
I now vane a pixel 8 and I’m much happier.
Eury I might buy the P8 Pro once the P9 series is launched.
I daily drive an 8 Pro and can't recommend it enough.

ErnestThornhill same. it's the perfect size
In addition to the already mentioned technical improvements which each new generation of smartphones brings with it, extending a device's life cycle and postponing burying a new device is also a good thing from an environmental standpoint.
Eury to address Google's choice of height to width ratio.
It should be a crime what they do. The only dimension that really matters is the width.
btw one of the key features mentioned in pixel 9 is find my phone even if switched off as part of android 15. there's been plenty of discussions in the forum on airplane mode/power off to prevent location tracking from a privacy perspective. will the GOS devs work on disabling this feature or create a toggle on/off button based on user requirement?
thank you
TheAwesomenESQ I can't officially speak for the devs, but after 12+ months here as a user, I can say I see them put security and privacy BEFORE "features"... so am not concerned :]
Wait for the Pixel 10 ! I think that the TSMC chip will be a game changer. Devices will less often get hot and battery life should be better. The IA in Google Photos will probably go decently fast at last
