Hello everyone,

i have been using Graphene OS for a year now and it's been a great experience but very often when i use the camera app the entire phone crashes and reboots. This had been happening since day 1. I have the crash report saved in my email and from what i can see it is the GPU that's causing the problem. Also the pictures end up tilted after they are taken... Does anyone know what is causing this and how it can be solved?

    ben922 Not sure what could be causing this issue for you. I think you can try checking a few things to check if it's not related to your setup. If nothing works, it might be better to open an issue in the issue tracker.

    I'd try the following:

    • Create a new profile and test the camera in that profile. Does it still crash?
    • If creating a new profile fixes the problem, try clearing the Camera app's storage here: Settings > Apps > All apps > Camera > Storage & cache > Clear storage. Does that fix the problem?
    • Do other camera apps crash as well? Try using another camera app and if it crashes too or doesn't work normally, try it in a fresh profile as well (doesn't have to be a brand new profile).

    If camera apps still crash or behave in unexpected ways in new profiles or with other camera apps, I'd suspect there's a hardware problem, but it would be better to confirm that for sure by also trying a factory reset or even going back to Stock to see if you have camera apps then too. Or you can try submitting the crash log here https://github.com/GrapheneOS/Camera/issues to see what a developer has to say about it.

      All other apps are working fine. The issue is present with both the stock camera and the google camera. I don't know what you mean by switching profiles? I wish i could get in touch with a developer or someone who has seen this problem before.

          I'm facing the same crash problem while using camera. It doesn't matter which app I use, I'm facing the same problem even using CamScanner to scan a document with camera. I don't know what cause this.

            dr_green Can you try the things I asked previously in this same thread here?

            I have to say I can't really follow the crash log very well, but it's looking like it might be hardware failure? Testing other profiles or other apps might help determine that.
