Is there a reason the default clock app widget (digital) has a minimum height of 3? It allows me to change the width down to 2, but the height won't go smaller than 3. The area needed to display the clock at 2 units wide looks like it would only require a height of 1 which would be ideal.

phoneme I don't know why they did it that way, but the default clock app on GrapheneOS is very old and, from what I can tell, unmaintained. You might consider finding a different app that supports better widgets.

other8026 I think this issue has something to do with the native launcher as well because with Nova Launcher, the stock clock widget can be set to a hight of one.

      a year later

On a P7, I have the default Clock widget sized at 3 width x 1 height

On a P9, I am able to resize the width, but not the height.
So I'm not able to reproduce the P7's widget on the P9. Best I can do is 3 width x 2 height on the P9.
The displayed clock text is only 1 row height, the 2nd row is just blank, leaving a lot of empty unusable real estate. Strange, eh?

Edit to add: I am unable to recreate the widget on the P7 as well. The 3x1 widget on the P7 was created ~ 2 years ago. Some update since then may have killed the ability to make new widgets of certain sizes?

Both devices are on latest stable builds, default launchers, 5x5 app grids.
Could it be a GOS-specific issue, if it's different across device models like this?

I installed "Clock" from F-Droid which gives you much more control over the widget. It's seems to be the version of the clock from an older Android version (looks pretty much the same as the one I had on Android 8.1)

I also prefer the "flat list" of the timers they use, that shows me all timers at once, instead of the layout the default clock uses.
