It's a relatively new app, so it doesn't have as much coverage as NewPipe, for example.

I do suggest compiling it from source (it takes at most 30 minutes), though.

Basically downloading the code, and clicking a few buttons in android studio and build it.

Clap2Grom673 What do you mean by that?

I mean absolutely no offense to @0xC4aE1e5, I only say this out of looking out for you @Clap2Grom673 . If anybody ever tells you to "just" ... "compile it yourself" then steer clear of everything that person says to you in the future. Take my word on this.

Its equivalent to saying, "just order the BMW M3 parts and build it yourself".

    Need I say more?

I use Grayjay (download from there website) Not shure what privacy things you are worried about.
I did not use my YT login to import my subscriptions. It is possible to open the YT sub export or the Newpipe sub export to import your subscription list.
If you are worried that futo can see what you whatched you probably need to wait for someone you trust to audit the code

Thanks for making me laugh! I was assuming it to be kinda like that ...

True compiling from source is one way to proof they dont do bullshit. Thats why trusted repos like F-Droid are good.

Futo has an fdroid repo, still their binaries but easy to install. Grayjay updates itself though.

The app is nice and works really well.

I have GJ on the P8P, and Fcast on the Shield Pro, but whilst the phone says it is connected, the Shield screams "Liar !!", and resolutely displays the connection details, and "waiting for media"
If I play, then cast. Nothing
If I cast then play, the video will not download

I've tried VPN on/off, reboot, swearing, etc with not joy. Their FAQ is of no help.
Is it the phone, GOS, or other that is causing the problem?

PaulDavis I'm having the same issue.

PaulDavis Casting doesn't work on Grapheneos (using any app). The function is not implemented in Android AOSP.

Some people say it could perhaps work if you install Google Home, but I don't want to let google intrude into my private life any more then what it already has, just to be able to cast.

Clap2Grom673 it won't be on PG as its technically not Foss, but I do trust futo to not intercept data, I used it for a bit and it's good if you want multiple services in 1 app, but personally I prefer libretube as I have a hosted piped instance.
