I use Waze for GPS navigation and it is working well

Someone is able to send and receive sms from android auto?

Is Android Auto working only on Main user profile?
I have tried it on secondary account, what I know has some functions limited but there I have sandboxed google services.
Is there some guide how to set it up at least to make maps and music (VLC) to work?
Do not care about other things much.

For example what permissions Android Auto and Google services needs to have?
As I would prefer to disable it as much as possible.

firstly I installed it from Google app store, but than somehow it appear also in the Graphne app store from where you can install the google services.

  • I made it work first time on Main profile, where i get notification that "Sandboxed Google Services are running"
    And there was Android Auto menu, than I allowed Unauthorized USB to work in this menu and it worked, but only on Main profile.
  • I have just moved all my stuff from the secondary profile ( what I used for all) to the Main profile, as the Main profile has more priviliges (changing virtual SIM, changing wifi...)

EDIT:
I found it now!

  • first install the Android Auto from the GrapheneOS App store, where you also need install Google App Services
  • than in System Settings (or search for it) go to Apps > Sandboxed Google Play > Android Auto
  • here you need to give at least the USB or Wirerless access
    Also you can allow access to messages music...
  • one more thing ( not tested) in the Android Auto app setting itself, you may need to enable one setting in Dev Menu:

    • You just may need to enable the "Unknown Sources" there if any issues

      Nice! Can you share your configuration of Android Auto on a secondary profile? You created a random google account right?

      I am creating a profile JUST for Android Auto. I will install there Navigation apps and music & podcast apps.
      I am wondering which are the minimum permissions and the needed apps to have:

      • navigate to a place via speech, so speech recognition
      • using maps magic earth, organic maps, etc.
      • using app for music and podcasts
      • if someone calls me I should be able to respond, so call management is also important"

      I think that's it. I don't want Android Auto to read my messages so I will skip that part.

          digital For me magic earth doesn't work with android auto. Based on what I've read here it's because I didn't download it directly from the play store (unknown sources is enabled).

              RRZishe just tried with android auto on a secondary profile without google account logged in. Magic earth shows and launches but displays no map: only a sentence: "no new messages during driving" or something like this... Very strange. I pushed it from profile 1 installed via Aurora store. I enabled unknown sources to make it appear

                    Just fyi for those who are missing apps;

                    I had to reboot my phone after installing Spotify, then it showed in Android Auto.

                    I installed everyting in a seperate user profile and its working ok.

                    if anybody has a tip for using youtube or netflix (while parked, f.e. when i'm charging my car) let me know!
