google photos cannot show pic metadata

My google photos does not show picture name, path etc thus I cannot share or edit the picture I just captured. I'm using the newest version of Graphene OS and google photos.

Upstate1618 this would be an issue with Google Photos. There's not much that can be done on the GrapheneOS side if the app is confused or just refuses to display something.

Edit: if you've used the GrapheneOS camera to take a photo, then it won't have EXIF data. Maybe that's what has confused the app.

By default, EXIF metadata is stripped for captured images and only includes the orientation. Stripping metadata for videos is planned but not supported yet. Orientation metadata isn't stripped since it's fully visible from how the image is displayed so it doesn't count as hidden metadata and is needed for proper display. You can toggle off stripping EXIF metadata in the More Settings menu opened from the settings dialog. Disabling metadata stripping will leave the timestamp, phone model, exposure configuration and other metadata. Location tagging is disabled by default and won't be stripped if you enable it.

native graphene gallery can show the image info though. Also this happens after google photos updating photo editors.

Upstate1618 does Google photos have storage scopes permission? Or does it have access to all pictures and videos?

I just tried on my phone and the info shows up. Google photos has access to specific files or folders on my phone using storage scopes.

other8026 I granted "always allow all photos and videos" permission to google photos.

Rebooting doesn't work. Storage scope doesn't work. Compatibility mode doesn't work. Cleaing google photos cache doesn't work

Upstate1618 clearing google photos all data works but after it automatically downloading photo editors the problem happens again.

Upstate1618 I just tried on my phone and I can't get the same result as you. I always see photo data for every photo.

In my experience, Google Photos might need some extra stuff downloaded from the internet to work. Maybe try checking for updates then open it with network permission granted to see if that helps?

Upstate1618 sorry, I can't seem to recreate this issue so I don't know what causes it. I've tried multiple things to trigger this, but none worked.

Like I said earlier, my guess is it's a Google Photos issue, not one caused by GrapheneOS.

If you know how, maybe logcat might have some useful info, but I sort of doubt it.
