How do I text AND create groups to text, please

Interesting. I've spent a long hour with Consumer Cellular ... we got it so that I could send a message, but I never received one back. Still confused. I did try a degoogled pixel 4 and the texts were not a problem.
Thanks for trying... found a really good Consumer Cellular guy at Target (where I have to go for my provider), maybe he can help.

ssemenick By the way, to use an messaging service like Whatsapp or Signal, the contact you want to talk with also needs to be on that messaging service. SMS doesn't have this limitation because the person you want to talk to would obviously have an device that can connect to cellular network, and hence recieve SMS texts, but you can't create or join group chats on SMS

I can receive codes from companies…and there are certain contacts that can return messages and I can interact with them.

OK. I just got a text from a distant friend (not on contacts) apparently I can receive texts from companies or people who are not on my contact list. Maybe there's a setting that can receive all texts, not just unknown texts..

Did you block all of your contacts? I don't know why else you could receive messages from non contacts but not from contacts.

Seems like a situation where someone needs to spend 10 minutes in person or on a video call to troubleshoot, reminds me of trying to help my parents with setup of new devices. Pretty challenging with asynchronous communication

ssemenick you should be able to receive an confirmation sms on you're pixel without needing to change anything.

Where did you download signal?

When registering signal it asks you for your phone number. Provide the number that you use with the phone. You should get a confirmation sms.
