Bluetooth Immediately Disconnecting itself

I am trying to connect my Pixel 8 Pro to my Windows desktop with Bluetooth. The pairing went fine, but afterwards, it disconnects itself after a second or two. Funny enough, when I start a Bluetooth file transfer to the phone on the desktop (and vice versa), it can connect and will stay connected through the transfer, but disconnect again afterwards. I have tried changing the Bluetooth AVRCP version and the Bluetooth MAP version to the latest ones to no avail. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Have you perhaps activated a timer for switching off Bluetooth (Settings>Connected devices>Bluetooth>Turn off Bluetooth automatically)?

If so, it may help to increase the switch-off value slightly.

I just looked and that was already set to "Never" and I never changed it.

same here, on a 7a: BT randomly disconnects either on its own, or (at times) when switching user profiles.
I've checked "Settings>Connected devices>Bluetooth>Turn off Bluetooth automatically" and it was set to "Never" - anyhow I've turned it to 8hrs then turned it back to Never, see if that helps out...

any other hints, most welcome: thank you!

steve_s They mean the driver installed on Windows not on GrapheneOS.

the failing BT connection is on a Pixel 7a: GrapheneOS Bluetooth of the main/"Owner" user profile just turns off on its own, and remains off unless I manually turn it back on.

I would like to report the same experience with GrapheneOS on a Pixel 4a (5g). Pairing works fine, but the connection aborts immediately after connecting to the paired device. I set "automatically turn off bluetooth after …" in the exploit protection menu to "never" and the issue persists, strangely during the first couple of attempts the connection seemed to last longer, enabling me to send some photos and videos to the paired Android device (Vivo Y15 with the Funtouch OS variety of Android), but the transfer was always aborted way before completion of the batch operation. I only tried the bluetooth connection right after an OTA system update that was automatically initiated upon connecting to a WiFi access point today (strangely so, because I thought GrapheneOS wasn't maintained for this model any more), so unfortunately I can't say whether it would have worked better before this update.

toonman Just saying: I am with Pixel 8 Pro and latest GrapheneOS and I experience the same issue. Until a week ago I had a different PC motherboard and a different Bluetooth dongle, so for a long time I supposed it was due to some strange Windows/Bluetooth driver interaction (albeit, every other Bluetooth device worked as expected).

I've now switched to the latest Windows 11, a new motherboard with an on-board Bluetooth chip, new drivers etc... and unfortunately the behavior is the same: Pixel has no issue in being added as Bluetooth device, it recognizes the PC as a device with which it can divert phone calls, but when it tries to connect it succeeds for a couple of seconds and disconnect immediately. I've tried I don't know how many fixes, none of them have solved this particular issue.

Note: I am not inferring here that is GrapheneOS at fault. Even tho' I haven't installed any particular "Google" driver on the PC, with the exception maybe of the one for dealing with Pixel when it is USB-connected (android_winusb.inf). I'd like to hear from anyone else who has no such issue, and then try to determine where the failure occurs. Thanks.

My Bluetooth connects for a few seconds and then disconnects.
It only happens when trying to connect by way of Bluetooth to my desktop windows10 computer.
I am using a USB Bluetooth adapter. I have tried Bluetooth 5.0 and Bluetooth 5.4 Adapters with the same issue.
My windows10 stats that my Pixel is Paired and it stays there but on my Pixel it disconnects after 2 seconds.
I have all the latest BIOS and device drivers installed on my Computer.
I have other devices that connect perfectly to my GrapheneOS like my car and and my Bluetooth earbuds.
I have other devices connected to my computer such as a Bluetooth Keyboard and mouse.
The only issue is between my Windows10 computer and my Pixel 8Pro with GrapheneOS Build Number 2025080600 and Android 16. :(

I ran into this as well. If Windows shows bluetooth “Disconnected” after a couple of seconds, its actually in an idle state, not truly disconnected. Bluetooth does this when the device isn’t in use and it reconnects automatically as soon as you start using it. Honestly its a bit misleading and definitely not Microsofts best UI choice.
