Phone app problem in second profile

Since latest update i have this issue. In the second user profile (google services installed) i’m not able to answer incoming phonecalls via bluetooth earpiece. The dial screen saws bluetooth selected but the voice sounds from the phone and i can’t change it not even in speaker. Also sometimes when the call ends the dialer remains for a few seconds and i have to lock and unlock the phone again to close. When I make the phonecall the bluetooth works good. No issues in the main user profile. Has anyone else have these issues?

I'm also experiencing this exact issue. From second profile, calls out work fine via bluetooth, but unable to answer calls via bluetooth nor use bluetooth on calls I've answered on the phone.

Same issue here. P7Pro, secondary user with Google services installed. Using the Google dialler app but using the graphene dialer also experiences the same issue. Outbound calls are fine but not notification of inbound call received.

yesterday's upgrade did not solve the problem which remains. the last version that everything worked properly was 2023101100.

It sounds like there may be a repeatable issue, thus reportable.

Can somebody post a detailed list of steps? Something like:

Un-pair all Bluetooth devices from owner profile.
In owner profile, pair with a Bluetooth headset.
In owner profile, create a new secondary profile, enable calling&SMS for that profile (maybe?).
In owner profile, enable cross-profile notifications(?)
Make sure headset is on and connected to phone.
Switch to secondary profile.
Have somebody call you.
What should happen is _____
What does happen is _____

The goal is a repeatable set of detailed steps that a (busy) developer could take to (quickly) reproduce the problem. Please note that on a daily basis I use only the owner profile, so my suggestions above are somewhat vague and may well be wrong.

If there is a set of repeatable steps, and multiple users agree that those steps fail for them, and especially if those users are on different device types, then I think it would probably be time to file an issue on GitHub.

•Connect the bluetooth headset
•Make a call

•I can answer the call by the phone or by the bluetooth(it has a button for that).

Switch to the second user profile(google services installed, phone/sms/cross profile notifications enabled)

•Connect the bluetooth again
•Make a call
•The voice by default sounds from bluetooth and i am able to change it to speaker or phone's earpiece...All good, same as owner profile.
• Receive incoming call(THERE is the issue)
•The ringtone sounds only from the phone, not from bluetooth
•I can answer the the call only by the phone and not from bluetooth's button
•When answer, the voice sounds Only from the phone's earpiece.
•The sound selection button in the blue call screen saws that bluetooth is selected. I can't change it . Speaker is also not available.

I think it would help if someone with google services installed on main user profile could try answer an incoming call via bluetooth.

akc3n I'm sorry but in my understanding the issue described here is different than the linked upstream issue.

Here, initiating a call using BT works fine but receiving a call does not work.
The current issue seem to be introduced somewhere late last year. Everything in this regards worked fine until then. The linked issue was raised early in 2022.

Or did I missed something here?

I just wanted to confirm that I have the same issue on a Pixel 6a. Google play services are neither installed on the main profile nor the secondary profile.

I'm experiencing issues answering the call even when Bluetooth is not active or connected.

Secondary profile is my main profile for use and has Google services installed

When a call comes in, I'm only aware of it due to the vibration of the call, no notification is provided and I have no way to answer the call. The same happens when connected to a Bluetooth device. After the call has finished, I can see the missed call notification in my call log.

I've played around with permissions but from what I can see, they're all correct and present. Thiw setup was also working without issue prior to the Android 14 update.

I hope this info assists.

The latest release (2023103100) appears to have resolved this on my device. Massive thanks to the Devs as always!

On build 2023103100 still can't use bluetooth when answering calls, nor can I switch to speaker when call is active. Issue is unresolved for me on Pixel 6A.

The problem remains unsolved for me as well. I think that Weston's case that was solved is different and it concerns call notifications, not answering calls via bluetooth on the second profile.

I have the same problem impossible to answer with bluetooth also today i missed 2 calls because no sound? I also have 1 more problem with the call app sometimes more then often, after hanging up, the app freeze. So if i pick up my phone, even after several hours and starting the call app again the latest call is still there and i have to delete all "windows" thats opened.

Does someone have a solution for this?

The phone has also since a week back been a little lagging from time to time.

I am also having this issue on a pixel 6 pro. Bluetooth does not work for incoming calls on the 2nd profile.

Avezamal Calls are answered by the owner profile even when you're in a secondary user profile. You would need to install the Google dialler app in the owner profile to answer calls with that app.

treequell This problem started from 2023100300 which was the last version based on android 13. before everything was working fine with stock aosp dialer. maybe some new upstream features are no longer compatible with the outdated aosp dialer, so mulfunctions happen.

I have the same problem(s).
Bluetooth, but also that when a second call comes in when already in a call this second caller has the same name as the first caller and appears on-hold.. That remains even when the second call is ended.

I have the same problem. I can answer the call, but I can only talk on the phone not throug Bluetooth like everyone else it shows that its there and im connected but no sound comes though the headphones just the phone. Aslo if I get another call and I answer that it won't let me put the other person on hold nor can I merge them. Also after I end the call it won't hangup and I half to reboot the phone

This is a known upstream bug and our issue-tracker has more information on this.
