I think the guy on the GitHub link summed it up nicely, it’s more about what that attitude towards security could result in broadly across the app suite. The first quote below is what the dev said and second quote is a reply (link provided at bottom):

applesbana handling of PDF files should be out of scope of a basic (hence Simple) file manager. That is why I don't use it, I stick with Total Commander which has a huge user and fan base and helpful community forum. But I use Calendar and Gallery for what they do with grace.

This is ridiculous and alarmist. It might be a possibility on a Samsung phone, but almost certainly not GrapheneOS.

But I'll let evidence guide me: Has there been one exploit like this in GrapheneOS' history? Evidence please.

[deleted] great to hear! I use 3 profiles and one of them has google play. What was the deciding factor that made you switch?

E24 I know it may sound silly but it was Minecraft which to me means hours of fun with my son and ability to conveniently update my banking app, that plays important part in my life. Google can see what I use, but I don't rely on it for more than a basic compatibility and unified push.

Bumwin3 I personally like it alot. Very customizable UI and clean and shows more than enough info

DeletedUser28 default everything except messages, contacts. I use the default camera too for some pictures and the built in scanner is amazing but for night shots or videos is when I use the gcam

Sorry I don’t have an answer that meets your requirements. I think the point is do you want a dev who says, “pshh, that security crap is too geeky for me to worry about”

Not really. I use Proton Calendar but aside from that I only use default apps more or less.

applesbana while that post is concerning, I will continue to use the 3 apps until I find something of close or better ui and function
