No Sound When Recording Video

Anytime I take a video using WhatsApp or the bundled camera app, no audio is picked up.
I only get audio using Google's camera.
Why is this?
I've already tried a factory reset.
And yes, the record audio option is selected.
And yes, the app has microphone permission, which it shows it accessed, but still no audio.

Sorry to hear that. Is it just whilst recording video that the microphone is not working? How about during phone calls, or recording voice messages?

treequell Microphone works in all other instances. Voice notes, recording video on the Google camera app, audio recordings, etc. All recorded videos lack sound EXCEPT the Google Camera app

In addition to different problems described, we probably have different versions of software involved (between 2023-2026) and only know hardware specifications of two devices (Pixel 7 (OP) and Pixel 7 Pro mentioned by anointer1530).

This makes it difficult to offer a possible solution, especially since there is sometimes a lack of feedback on whether proposed solutions, such as,

Bump. This is actually a big issue and no one seems to be able to help me. Any other ideas?

CultofGraphene Is it possible the different apps are recording audio at different rates, and the hardware is semi-broken and works only at some rates?

If you are willing to factory reset again (thus losing your data again!), you might try:

Factory reset, do not install anything or create any profiles, just immediately record with built-in app,
If that fails, flash back to Google's OS; if you observe audio failures then, it probably is a hardware failure.

Those are just my best ideas, which aren't great, so you might want to see if others show up.

de0u Much appreciated. Actually, when I factory reset, the first thing I did was test the camera audio (because it was half the reason I did the reset in the first place).
So I know that's not the case.
I really don't want to flash Google's OS, but I see what you are suggesting. I wonder if there is an app that can detect this instead...

Bump. Seeing the same issue exactly. Running microphone tests and no issues with the mic on anything other than the native app and the apps that invoke the native camera. Seen other threads same issue, same when installing graphene camera from different sources but nothing else has the issue

1nc3r0 Do you have the 'include Audio' toggle enabled? You'll find it in GrapheneOS Camera > Video > Context menu in top left.

Is there a chance that you have altered the permissions of, or disabled, any system apps?

Nope, it was a fresh build a few days ago been working on this issue since install

By fresh build i mean I have just installed graphene os as my operating system, i havent modified it beyond installing a few apps but noticed this issue immediately

I have the same problem an a Pixel 7 Pro which is a little over two years old now.
I made a series of videos, each 1+ minutes long, and the first three had hardware microfone audio, while the others had none. A day later, when I realized this, I made another video to check which had audio.
I have used Google Camera when this problem occurred.

I just get a consistent fuzz noise, instead of recorded mic audio, on any video recordings I make using the GrapheneoOS camera version 90. My mic permissions are all enabled for the app.
