  • Concert owner profile to secondary user profile?

I'm currently using GrapheneOS with the owner profile for most things, without any Google Services. I have a separate profile for apps that depend on Google Services. I'm now thinking that it might make more sense to use a secondary profile as my default profile, so I can keep the owner profile for admin stuff and e-sign management.

Is it possible to convert my current owner profile to a secondary profile and create a new owner profile? I couldn't find anything in the docs nor on the forums. Thanks for any guidance!

    No

Bummer! I guess I have to manually move some things over then.

Take your time and make sure everything works out as you want. You don't have to reinstall all your apps on the new profile, just check them on the "install available apps" list in the profile settings. Your app data will obviously be pushed over to the other profile, so you need to set them up and maybe do some exports and imports.

I have seen some people using the the owner profile exclusively for installing and updating all the apps and then pushing them to the respective user profiles for usage. Maybe this is exactly what you want.

Just realized I forgot a "not" there, what I meant to say is your app data won't be pushed to a user profile, that would go against the idea of segregation.

N1b yes, I figured you meant that :-) It's a shame that Android doesn't have a good way to backup apps with their data (without root).

pascalw Its possible if Android included a backup app, but Lord Google wants to store even the encrypted backup data

Also GrapheneOS includes Seedvault, which might not be reliable
