Just got a Pixel 6A with GOS. During my first phone call I felt a bunch of vibrations. Some just occasional, sometimes a whole bunch. When I looked at the screen it looked normal, then it was showing a dialer number-pad with a "return to call" button. Not sure what else happened, but at one point my ear turned the flashlight on! Ridiculous! The screen is not shutting off when the phone is held up to my face like every other phone I've had. I've looked thru many settings but can't find anything relevant. Installed Simple Dialer, same problem. At least I found an option to turn off the proximity sensor, though it had no effect when switched either way. Regular internet searches revealed an "oversensitive" touchscreen issue, but that isn't my phone's problem. Anyone know why my screen won't turn off?

The "Apps (app repo client)" tag is for when the GrapheneOS App repository is being discussed hence the name.

Have you put tape over selfie cam and inadvertantly blocked proximity sensor? Or faulty proximity sensor perhaps.
ronen44 Either you've changed settings in a way that's broken such as disabling the Sensors permission for various OS components requiring it or you have faulty hardware. It's more likely that it's a configuration issue. If you don't recall what you did to break it, you can factory reset the device. If it occurs without configuration changes after factory reset, it's a hardware issue. If you have a screen protector or other modifications, that's likely the problem.
I've cleared the app cache as mentioned elsewhere, no change. I removed the PET screen protector and the haptic vibrations really become annoying. It was a fresh reset of GOS so I think I'm running out of options unfortunately. Thanks to all who replied!
