I can't get Viber (latest version) to start activation process on GrapheneOS Android 13 (clean wipe + flash) on Pixel 4a. Activation process works on GrapheneOS Android 12, but on Android 13 version it simply says "Activation Failed".

Viber tech support does not detect any activation attempts from my phone number. Enabling/Disabling VPN has no effect. Giving Viber full permissions also has no effect.

Viber does not erquire Google Play Services for push notifications or anything else.

Did you solve your problem? Did you activate Viber without the sandboxed play services?

I never solved the problem, but I stopped trying a few days after making this thread (August 26th, 2022). Viber worked fine on GOS Android 12, but wouldn't activate on GOS Android 13. Based on tech support responses, GOS phones weren't sending requests for activation (and SMS verification) and as such, running or not running Google Play Services was unlikely to be the main cause of the problem.

I was glad I didn't solve the problem because I realized I did not need Viber to contact all my friends. They were already using WhatsApp and/or Signal and/or Telegram.

Volen I installed sandboxed Google play services and enabled network permission and I still cannot activate my Viber account, is there anything else I need to do?

Very strange - I had zero issues activating and its still working without issues (Google Services have no internet access).

Which step, exactly, you are struggling with? What error do you get?

Volen While trying to sign in I get the "Activation Failed - Tap "Help" to learn how to activate your account", and I never got an activation code via text. My account is working on my old phone and on the desktop so my phone number has not been blocked.

qwertyuser Found the issue! I installed Google Play Services and Google Services Framework but had not installed Google Play Store. Once I installed Google Play Store I could already activate Viber. I'll leave this here hoping this can help someone else.

The only thing that I can think of - did you install Viber after installing Google Play Services? Because if you install the app first and then Google Play Services, the app won't work.

Maybe you can try to uninstall Viber, then uninstall Google Play Services, then install Google Play Services back, open Google Play store so that it will finalize the settings (you don't have to login to store) and then install Viber and try again?

Make sure Viber has phone permissions.

I just installed it as normal and it worked immediately, without any issues so I am assuming its something to do with Google Play services config.

Volen Thank you so much for the help! I have found the issue and it was due to me not having installed the actual Google Play Store. I have detailed the issue on my last reply.
