  • Missing features in 13 beta?

I'm running latest beta on pixel 6, and can't find some features deployed with A13, such as:

  • new material you theming support for app icons
  • new sensors tile regrouping mic, camera, and location (acts like the internet tile regrouping WiFi and data)
  • any material you customization settings (under wallpaper and style)
  • qr-code tile appears but is gray and says "unavailable".
Are those features to be added with stable?
    Also I noted a bug:
  • media player in the notification panel is buggy: sometimes it does not appear, and most of the time it shows the album cover from the previous media I was listening to before the one actually playing.

    Not integrated into GrapheneOS yet.

any material you customization settings (under wallpaper and style)

Also not integrated into GrapheneOS yet.

More works needs to be done to hook that tile up to GrapheneOS's camera app.

Are those features to be added with stable?

No. Stable is already out. Those features will be added eventually, but they weren't put in the initial Android 13 release because the priority was getting the full August security update and the rest of Android 13 out as soon as possible.

lberrymage thank you for your reply.

So there is good hope those features will appear in the near future right?

For the qr-code tile, is there any chance for it to be working with any camera app installed? Or will it require Graphene Cam only?

Yes, although I'm not sure how near in the future because the team did a lot of work lately to finish the Android 13 upgrade and there are other priorities at the moment.

It has to be hooked up to a specific QR code reader and so will only work with the GrapheneOS Camera.

Am I the only one that really dislikes the Internet tile? Maybe it's my use case, because I enable/disable both WiFi and Mobile data as required, so it's a lot (well, 2-3 more taps) to do the exact same thing as we used to be able to do.

TranceSeven Yeap, I was used to having two different tiles on Calyx previously, missing them. But it's actually just one click more.

TranceSeven I was like you at first when i got my Android 12. But in the end, the ENORMOUS tiles make it a pain in the ass to have multiple tiles, so the less i have in the panel, the best it is to me...

True. Bring back the buttons with just an icon!
After 18 months, I'm used to it, I just don't think it was a great move from Google.

Just spat my coffee out, thanks >_<

I agree the icons were better, however the focus from a psychological point of view is to stop us seeing our devices as tools and more as toys to be played with. The new layout and features are designed to appeal to an infantile mindset to ensure we keep playing the game. No different than the one armed bandit approach to refresh and the red cherry color for notifications to make us feel like winners.

Thankfully most of us here are likely all to acutely aware of this.
