primipare Is it a poor phone, with weak battery life (apart from being heavy and too big. Missing my 4a)? Or is GOS pumping the juice, that much?
GrapheneLover Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro has good battery life when using GrapheneOS at least for me, however I had much better battery life with other phones. I'd still rank it pretty good and haven't experienced too much overheating either.
primipare GrapheneLover How long does the battery last? I do experience some overheating every now and then.
primipare The Pixel 7 is heavy, bulky with a dodgy battery. 2nd worse phone I've had so far after a Samsung Note which should never have been created. I've had a few samsungs and a Pixel 4a (best phone so far). I had CalyxOS on the 4a and I am honestly starting to question GOS, considering how my battery drains
[deleted] primipare I am honestly starting to question GOS, considering how my battery drains GrapheneOS does not cause battery drainage. Something else is causing it.
GrapheneLover primipare Lasts the whole day for me 100% to around 15% at the end of the day. I use it all day long but don't watch many videos or play games. Do you have the Pixel 7 or the Pixel 7 Pro? My experience that I wrote is coming from the newest version Pixel 7 Pro purchased in 2023.
primipare GrapheneLover I have the 7, not the pro. I don't watch many videos either. I sometimes am at 35% by lunchtime !
GrapheneLover primipare I had a 7 before as well and the battery did drain a little faster but I believe that was due to it having Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp so if you are using either of those apps it could drain your battery by a lot especially Facebook & Messenger both of those have such a huge battery draining issue.
[deleted] @primipare, you can look under Settings -> Battery -> Battery Manager as well as Battery usage to see what is using a lot of power. Do you have a lot of apps downloaded? How many are constantly running in the background?
primipare [deleted] Thx. I avoid downloading too many apps and I use dark mode (mainly to protect the eyes but should help, too). I'll keep checking that, especially days when drainage seems abnormal.
primipare GrapheneLover Oh, goodness, no, no, no facebook, messenger or insta on my phones. Yerk. But I do have whatsapp, unfortunately. been trying to keep away but not easy and i keep reinstalling it after a while.
GrapheneLover primipare WhatsApp can drain your battery a lot, to mitigate that you can put it in a separate profile as well as all of your messaging apps that you use and end the session for it when you don't need to use it so that the battery doesn't drain as much
de0u primipare What happens if you disable WhatsApp for an afternoon? If your battery drain flattens out then at least you'll know how to assign responsibility.
primipare GrapheneLover that's quite clever, thx. then i need to swap from the whatsapp profile to my normal one each time i want to check whatsapp. which can be ok as i rarely use it.
dgzeij primipare Maybe manually close the app via the 3-button navigation can help from switching profiles all the time. But since WhatsApp is a Meta product it might be smart to have it in a separate profile to create a bigger barrier between you and them. Some apps might have an artificially high active time to gather the most possible info about you. Would be great to have tools to detect this.
