graphenediscoverer4 Seedvault works well! It will not backup all of your apps, like a proper root-based backup solution! Just enable d-d backups in Expert Settings! It only doesn't for apps not recently used, and for those apps you didn't use recently and want to backup, go into them and use for 5 minutes and they will be back on the list. Vanadium is the exception for me, its just stuck on "waiting to backup" and never does... I know it will backup usually, but mine may not be being backed up now because even App Manager and Neo Backup fail recently...
I finished compiling GrapheneOS, with my own signing keys, and compiling my own kernel. The advantage for this, is I can do things like make one build with KernelSU compiled into the kernel and one without, and also make one build and then use avbroot to make one OTA update with Magisk root and one without. So I can sideload the root OTA with KernelSU or Magisk, do my root backups, then sideload the OTA update without root, and not have any apps with root access and remove the security hole that is root access. Its a bigger problem than you might think and probably not worth it, if you value security, the only way I would do it nowadays is the way I'm doing it now, only having my phone rooted 1% of the time, for backup making only. I also altered the hosts file in my build to include 1.5 million lines of host and tracker blocking from https://divested.dev/hosts/ so no need of Adaway. So there's no reason to have root unless I need NY file manager to have root, App Manager to have it for a specific operation, or backup. Then I just sideload a root OTA, and when done sideload the regular one.
Root has made my device kinda unstable though, but I don't really care because of the above... I highly encourage you to follow the instructions at the GrapheneOS build page and make your own build as well if you are interested in root!
I'm going to next try and build TWRP from scratch. It doesn't support decrypting data (viewing your backup I think) but it should support still backing up your still encrypted partitions on newer devices... I guess I'll find out if I'm successful! There aren't really good instructions like for building GrapheneOS though...
