Does anyone know a good alternative to the Aurora store?
I'm asking since I do often get rate limited and I don't want to login with my google account either.

One workaround you can do is to go into the your phones settings then aurora and let the app open links from the browser.
That way when you search for an app with vanadium in the playstore and click on the link it opens in aurora store and u can install it as usual..
but first u gotta press on anonymous account and it should work after a few tries even if it doesnt log in..
The link workaround is the next best thing if you don't have Sandboxed Google Play Services installed but want the Aurora experience. Quick warning: Don't try to open the Play Store links through DuckDuckGo, that always got me to the Play Store page and took a while to figure out (other search engines like Brave Search, Startpage or directly searching on the Play Store website didn't cause the issue).
Alternatively, if you have Sandboxed Play Services installed, using the Play Store with an anonymous account only for this purpose will do basically the same job as Aurora, with the benefits of not being rate limited or having trouble with some banking apps not working.
Relatively new is Obtainium which allows you to download and update APK files directly from source (e.g. Github, FDroid, even APKPure etc) but you should always be trusting the source (which might rule out APKpure again). I'm using it on my Pixel Tablet for about 2 weeks and like it so far: https://github.com/ImranR98/Obtainium
Last option is to use FDroid + Repositories if that gets you every app you need. I recommend using more modern and advanced storefronts like Droid-ify (nice design) or Neo Store (more features, allows for one-tap updates).
Edit: typos

In the iodéOS forum one of the crew posted a detailed instruction and it worked perfect for me on an iodéOS device. But I never tried it on my GOS device because on my daily driver I don't need Aurora (or Google).
Here it is:
Anonymous accounts in Aurora Store still have issues. A workaround has been implemented in the version we provide in iodéOS, which consists in opening the real play store page and install apps from there. To enable this, there are several steps:
Allow Aurora Store to open external links long press on Aurora icon go to App infos go to Open by default enable Open supported links if not already switched on press Add link, select the two supported links Open Aurora Store go to Settings go to Advanced enable Search in custom tabs Now, how to use search an app. Suggestions won’t print, but when validating a search filter, a google play page will be opened press on the app you want to install to go to its detailed page open the bottom-right sandwich menu press Open in app: you will get back to its Aurora page, from where you can install the app.

This didn't work for me. Aurora (4.2.3) just says "failed to fetch app details"
I just tried it on my iodéOS device (Samsung Galaxy S9) and installed the app Element and it worked perfect. I think that it should work on a GOS device flawless too. But: The enabled "Search in custom tabs" will be reset every time you restart Aurora. So you should repeat "enable Search in custom tabs".
