Hey everyone. I'm confused as to why the default SMS messaging app on GOS requires so many permissions. I tried turning the ones that didn't make sense off, and it caused serious stability problems on the phone - it seems they're required. They're all back on and it's fine now, but can anyone shed some light on this?

I can't seem to add a screenshot but the permissions it has currently are: Camera, Contacts, Files, Microphone, Music and audio, Notifications, Phone, Photos and videos, and SMS. I've turned off Sensors and Network.

Oh, also - can I delete the default folders in the Files app? Movies, Podcasts, Recordings, etc. Or will I break something?

I turned off all the permissions except Contact, Notification, Phone, Sensor and SMS and the app is working fine.

FreshStart FOr your second question (As @SoulKeeper has answered it pretty well) you can rename or delete them fine. I've not had issues doing it

Because it's a system app, avoid touching these permissions.

FreshStart You can delete any folder you want to. Files and Folders that are important for the OS can/will not be deleted even if you try to (without root access)
