I've been using vanilla GOS (no Play) for a while and I'm looking for a quick crash course on what updates what if I install Play.
On install GmsCompat immediately recommends that I allow "Play Store to update Play Store". Personally, I would rather Apps be in charge of that. Not sure why it's outright recommended.
Play Store (which comes with 'Auto-update apps' setting enabled by default) then picks up and starts tracking Google Play services. Is it a good idea to disable this setting if I want Apps do it instead?
To reiterate, I want the Play Store to only track apps I install myself and leave Apps to take care of the rest.
I've tried searching around and reading documentation but didn't find anything opinionated. I thought I would see if anyone could chime in with their experience.
