Another workaround I've found is to go into the Fingerprint Unlock settings under Security. As soon as I enter my PIN, the functionality returns.
BUG: Fingerprint unlock disabled after profile change
Any update on this? Maybe Android 14 is going to fix it?
As of now (9 October 23) I'm still seeing this bug virtually everytime I switch profiles.

Skyway Factory resetting? Pretty tall task for OS without a good backup solution. It would be great if either mods or developers chimed in on whether this this will resolve the issue for good.
Reinstall not factory reset .
Skyway How to reinstall please ?
Skyway Please can you tell me a few things :
If I do this I'll lose all my profiles, true ?
How can I backup safely all my apps and files ?
Is it the only way ?
Skyway Which apps do you use make backup ? "Via sms import export app" I'm not sure to understand
IksNorTen https://f-droid.org/packages/com.github.tmo1.sms_ie/

IksNorTen Before you go erasing your entire device, you might want to cross reference what your read on here. I'm not saying it won't solve the issue, but I haven't seen any proof. Just because someone somewhere is claiming they're not experiencing it after reinstalling OS is nothing to go by. I don't experience it for days at a time until I do.
Same problem here: fingerprint unlock through different profiles doesn't work. I'm a new user, but I'm surprised that this bug has been going on for months. The only solution know so is a complete re-install? :(

No indication any of this works, please don't factory reset or reinstall for nothing. GitHub issue is still there.
This has not been an issue for me after I upgraded to A14 GOS. Currently on UP1A.231005.007.2023101300
Although, when switching profiles, I have to wait 3 seconds before fingerprint unlock becomes available.
