Sad to see an upstream issue wreak this much havoc upon usability. Fingerprint unlock just needs to work for a daily driver and it may be months before we see a fix?

I think it's time I look at switching to iOS. Privacy and reliability can be found there.

No it does not. Switching profile breaks fingerprint again. So you need to reboot after each profile switch......

Kryptos iOS doesn't have user profiles and it can be avoided by not using that feature.

I switch profiles all the time and this doesn't happen to me, I understand how annoying that must be for you. Dunno if reinstalling GOS is an option but maybe it's something to think about.

What has helped me is that I have two fingerprint images left hand and right hand when I log into a second profile only the left hand works so you could probably try setting another finger print so you would have two images. that's what work for me

I've been just dealing with it , after some time fingerprint starts working normal not sure if its time or a certain number of logins .then auto reboot over night resets over night and the cycle starts over .

Techsaw The issue is that the fingerprint button prompt does not even show up.

Are we really sure this is not an issue with GrapheneOS "End session" functionality? I have managed to get it to work again after using the "end session" button. If I recall correctly, the "end session" button showed up even after I ended the session on the only extra profilr. I tap the button and the fingerprint prompt came back again without reboot. This is quite inconsistent though, it doesn't work every time.

A work around for this is to open any other app within the Owner Profile that uses a biometric fingerprint.

For whatever reason this triggers the OS to work properly again for me anyway.

I have a banking app I use or even my Gallery App's Fingerprint Protected folder does the trick. This workaround has been repeatable since the issue began some time ago.

Give it a try, see if it's repeatable and report back.

Another workaround I've found is to go into the Fingerprint Unlock settings under Security. As soon as I enter my PIN, the functionality returns.

Any update on this? Maybe Android 14 is going to fix it?
As of now (9 October 23) I'm still seeing this bug virtually everytime I switch profiles.

Skyway Factory resetting? Pretty tall task for OS without a good backup solution. It would be great if either mods or developers chimed in on whether this this will resolve the issue for good.

Skyway thanks. Good to know there is some kind of a fix, but that's way too drastic for me. Combined with the fact that Seedvault never worked on my phone, I can't really wipe it...

Gonna keep waiting and hoping for an actual fix.

IksNorTen same as you installed via web browser .
I initially tried I factory reset but it didn't fix it so I did a reinstall .

Skyway Please can you tell me a few things :

              • If I do this I'll lose all my profiles, true ?

              • How can I backup safely all my apps and files ?

              • Is it the only way ?

IksNorTen it will be like a new install , yes .
I had to backup my files , pictures, individually via desktop . texts , call logs and contacts via SMS import export app. Signal has a built in backup feature . as for other apps you will have to see what's offered . seedvault is useless.
