Hey all,

I'm seeing Pixel 7's seem to cost less on Best Buy than Google's website. Is there a way to double check I'd actually be getting a phone with an unlocked bootloader before purchase (even though they say carrier unlocked)? Can you suggest an SKU that is known to be unlocked?

Or is there a better place to buy one? Something with a good return policy, hopefully. I do see one on Amazon also.

mike876213 Also keep in mind the price best buy shows is only if you activate service with a major carrier at time of purchase, or else it's the same price as Google store

I bought a few pixels (4) from Best Buy if only for the total tech protection plan.

In my experience I was able to unlock the bootloader every time. Make sure you get the unlocked version and don’t activate in store.
But as mentioned you won’t get the discount like that.

I challenged them on that, which I think is a no-no in CT

They backed down, and said it was an “option”.

Chalko Do you remember the SKU's?

And crap ... everyone is right. I didn't notice the disclaimer WITH ACTIVATION ONLY. I think I'm just going to buy from google instead lol.

Bought in pairs for a family member. All completely unlocked.

But if there is no incentive may as well get it from Google and avoid any issues.

Looks like your question has already been answered, but I'll just add that I bought my Pixel 7 from Best Buy so I could use cash for an anonymous transaction. The phone is indeed unlocked, but I did not get the activation discount, of course.
