I have been reading the posts so I'm not trying to be lazy... How can I use the GPS without it reporting back to the cell tower. I have head it works in airplane mode but mine only works if I downloaded the map.
Is there an app that wold provide me a data base of downloaded maps so I could use it offload be?

How do I use.my gos privately on grapheme?
Is the grapheme GPS more private than any other is GPS?

If you use Sandboxed Google Play, make sure the GrapheneOS is rerouting location requests to the OS implementation.

Also disable SUPL so that location is purely based on satellite fix.

Magic Earth, OSMand, and a few others will let you download specific offline maps. Google wants you connected to their cloud, and will only temporarily cache map data.

d9780 What do you mean by reporting back to call tower? The mobile cell towers don't get your GPS location data from your phone, or did I interpret your question wrong? The cell towers will always know your position based on mathematical calculations on your signal strength, else it wouldn't work :)

I could be mistaken, but isn't GPS receive only?

nemo GPS is, yes, but in order to get a lock more quickly, certain pieces of data can be preloaded into the GPS. These pieces of data are themselves location and time dependent and have to be requested over some data network.

          Go to settings > location
Check the options there. Make sure you select the graphene os servers. They give you privacy.

d9780 PS. How do I make it reroute the requests?

I think you can find the setting under google play compatibility layer settings. I cant recall. Maybe its in the "Apps" app. Look thoroughly for all settings related to google play components.

Also as zynex said, your location is always known by the tower regardless of whether you have gps in your device or not. As long as you are connected to a tower your location is known.

Thanks allot guys. I'm running airplane most all of the time except emergency and then, never at home.....

I also switch sim every 3 months though I know it doesn't change IMEI.
