I really am on a knifes edge to go back from based to normie. Just because Google pay not working is causing issues.
Wallet - Google Pay
keatonhj I am also fighting the urge to revert back to stock... On top of Google Pay, my health insurance App is now not possible to install from Google Store.
Curve, for UK residents, offers a free plan that only allows up to 3 cards. Thereafter they demand ridiculous monthly fees in excess of £5.98 depending on the plan chosen.
No bank account is worth a monthly fee, as they already get a percentage back from the retailer. I refuse to pay to be able to access or use my money
https://help.curve.com/what-is-curve-pay-Skw9tMH7K - looks like curve pay won't work on pixels.
So, which banks in the EU have a NFC payment app that work with GOS? And I mean with a merchant that uses a normal Visa/Mastercard terminal, not on a separate network. Is there a list somewhere? This looks like a natural/common question to ask, but I cannot find any clear answers.
edwin-jones It's my suspicion that Curve Pay will soon open up for all android users. Apple have announced that they will open up their NFC reader for other payments apps from iOS 18.1 and Curve have announced that they will launch Curve Pay for iOS soon. Logic would suggest that they'd also want to bring this option to android for feature parity. Just a suspicion, but could be great for GrapheneOS users if so.

honestly, for the sake of our privacy now and in the future, we should all be using cash as much as possible anyways
[deleted] That doesn't work for everyone's security model & work flow ....
Kras I really hope so but right not I'm trying the app with no luck, it doesn't work.
I've got confirmation from curve's support team that curve pay is only available for those with Huawei devices or people in iceland as apparently google pay isn't available there. There goes another option...

Does this look like your problem?

If so I'm having the same issue and nothing seems to be solving it...both TM email and Google emails are the same.
Did you ever come up with a more complete fix?

Seems Curve Pay will come to Android after all. I received this email from them.

I am sharing also the signup link for beta testing provided if anyone would be interested to signup on it and test the beta apk file.

JayJay wow this is interesting. Will this actually work with GrapheneOS?
A good question before we get excited is: why should you trust curve pay over garmin or google pay
OfflinePuffin I am not saying it not trustworthy or a bad product but how is the company behind it and are they transparent
OfflinePuffin
They already have my cards so from my PoV I've already fucked up if they do shady stuff with my cards.
Personally I'm hoping Curve doesn't turn out to be the devil. I suspect we will see when we get closer to release.

OfflinePuffin I think the problem here is not that GrapheneOS users don't trust GooglePay to handle their cards and would trust another company, but rather, GooglePay doesn't trust GrapheneOS so limits the functionality of GooglePay by not allowing contactless payment nor adding of payment cards in the app. Hence, if you want to use both GrapheneOS and contactless payment, then your only option is to use a third party app that does trust GrapheneOS (or figure out a way to hack the source code so that GooglePay will trust GrapheneOS).
But it's a good question to ask, whether Curve is actually trustworthy. I'm hoping yes. If anyone has experience or information that can help shed light on this, please chime in.
JayJay Glad we'll have a Google Pay alternative soon. I'm switching to GrapheneOS when my Pixel arrives but I still want to pay with my smartphone.
Google should whitelist GrapheneOS, or remove the Play Integrity API.

I don't use my phone to pay for anything so this does not concern me, but one thing to consider, is by using your curve card to pay for something you do not get section 75 insurance, even if you use your credit card through the curve app.
