I have a few questions I could not find in this or any related thread:
My banking app works with GOS and it has contactless payment through Google Pay
I already have a throwaway Google account for sandboxed Play store.

  1. How will adding my card information to my banking app / Google Pay affect my privacy? Or is in not a big deal?
  2. Should I create another throwaway google account for just payment?
  3. Do I make the payments via my banking app or do I download the Google Pay app?

    I think if you were using Google Pay you would be revealing your identity and location and spending habits to Google. But I think Google Pay refuses to run on GrapheneOS because it is not a trusted platform.

      pietro395 You depend on Google Wallet, which won't work on GOS. Stay on Google if it's important to you.

        pietro395 Pixel Watch can work independently of the phone. Unsure if that's only for the LTE variant or not, but I do know that it's possible to setup Pixel Watch in a way where it can handle payments independently and people who use GrapheneOS can use their watch to make payments without issues.

            a google watch is basically sending google your vitals as no one wants to make a grapheneos equvalent to the mainstream watches i know asteroidos but it so limitied in support

              I finally decided to install grapheneos, I am using pixel watch with google wallet without any problem

                For now, some Fitbit watches have Fitpay option which works directly off the watch - similar to Garmin Pay. Check availability by country (for me in Canada Fitpay is pretty much accepted by most banks but Garmin Pay is very limited)

                I am using Fitpay and can pay directly from my watch without it being synced/associated to a phone OS. With Google having purchased Fitbit and slowly making changes - will see how long this lasts

                pietro395 can you tell me how you set it up on your pixel watch? It's always failing for me at one point, because the watch wallet app also wants to connect to the phone wallet app.

                  I already asked Revolut and Lunar banks to develop NFC native payments in theirs apps. Not sure if they will do so, however it is worth is more will request that feature most likely they will listen to us.
                  Lunar BTW seems to have nice privacy settings.
                  After all you do not want Google to know about your payments, but if another online bank like Lunar will have that option, that will be great then. Please request NFC payment in Lunar and Revolut banks apps. More requests better :)

                  I'm using a Fossil watch running WearOS, which essentially provides a certified pathway enabling NFC payments via Google Pay/Wallet. The WearOS app running on GrapheneOS (on my phone) is able to provide the necessary bridge to let me transfer card details to the watch.

                  Once the card details are stored on the watch, my understanding is that it operates as an officially-sanctioned clone of your card. It's very convenient, though it's going to be leaky. Then again, privacy can best be maintained by using cash.

                  I ran into the same issue. I love smartwatches. I have a Google Pixel 2 smartwatch and am able to load my debit card to my Pixel 2 and it is synced to my phone. So, since the watch's OS wasn't modified, it will load. I use the NFC on the watch. This works for my use case.

                    I contacted google to let them know about this limitation that we (GOS users) experience and they replied with intention to know more about that. I will give them more details. Who knows, maybe they are willing to make it work, maybe they just didn't know about the problem...
