  • Installing one app across different profiles, version #

I want to use k9 email on multiple profiles. Installing it onto multiple profiles works well if I'm setting up the profiles, and installing k9 on them, on the same day (i.e. if the app is the same version across the board).

But, if I want to create a new profile, say, several weeks after my other profiles which already have k9 installed on them, I'm unable to install k9 on the new profile because it exists as a newer version on the other profiles.

Ergo, right now it seems that the only way to install k9 on my new profile is to uninstall it from ALL of my other profiles, then reinstall it onto the older profiles/install it onto the new profile, which works because k9 will be the same version across all profiles.

I imagine there must be a better way to accomplish this. For instance, can I somehow export the existing version of k9 from an existing profile to a new one (by thumb drive or some other method)?

You can use SAI to extract the apk and copy to usb drive

nrt ok, I downloaded SAI from fdroid and poked around but don't see how to access the apks installed on my profile. Can you advise?

Select "backup" and all apps will show up. Then select the app you want to backup.

nrt I can't find the apks with SAI but I am able to find and export them with APK Analyzer. Thanks for the the lead, much appreciated.

I just reinstalled it to figure out the steps hang on:

      To initialize SAI:
      Select backup
      Select directory
      Select system file picker
      Select use this folder
      Allow.

      Now you can extract apks:
      Select app
      Select backup
      Select base.apk
Select export as a .apk file

nrt maybe we're talking about a different app. When I click "backup" it asks for me to choose
        Internal file picker
        Or
        System file picker

It wants the user to choose one, neither of them make sense to me.

But anyway, I got this to work with a different app.

nrt for instance, after choosing "system file picker" it brings my to the "home" directory of my phone, which SAI will not let me choose. I tried choosing other folders which I thought might work, but nothing did. I'm not able to move passed that step. Just bringing this up in order to to share my experience with it.

nrt I got it. I needed to create a folder to which SAI would backup the bounced APK to. That wasn't clear to me at all. Thanks again for the help.
