What are the security implications of having developer mode enabled?

I make android apps, and also occasionally tend to use adb push/pull scripts when I need to transfer files to and from my phone using shell scripts, which is why I leave dev mode on (switching it off requires rebooting the device, which is inconvenient).
Wondering what additional security threats that may create, considering I always leave USB debugging off when I am taking the phone out in the fields with me?

thetraveller1 as the name suggests, developer mode is intended for use by developers and users under normal circumstances should not have to access it. So I would go on to say that the only security implication is that regular users often have a poor understanding how Android and network environment work and may set certain toggles in a way adversely affecting their security setup.

Its not like it was in the old days, where USB debugging (adb) would let anything connect. Now there is an authorization prompt that uses a cryptographic signature to identify the machine making the connection.

But like all things, it should be used with a clear understanding of the implications.
