omori I tried that, even let GMS access my location temporarily to see if it made a difference but It did not. Beforehand just switching from the grapheneOS proxy to the standard would work.

Kottonballs Actually, there are a lot of GPSLogger apps both on aurora and F-Droid, which one should I get? some look pretty outdated aswell...

a link would be massively appreciated

Did you turn on the location services? If yes, you don't need to read further... If no, that is most probably the cause of your issue.

You can grant location access to the apps that you want, but you need to actually turn on the location services. Without it, even though the location access is granted, the location is not allowed.

Swipe down to access notification panel and allow location.

[deleted] The location services are on, as shown here https://imgur.com/a/uFNII0g
I don't turn it off all that much, so I doubt it's that.

Kottonballs I can't get an output with the GPSTracker app, It won't even return a text file. It just gets stuck on this: https://imgur.com/vxxs7OA

the log view gets stuck on: "Requesting cell and wifi location updates" and eventually gives up. It is important to note that I don't have wifi scanning or bluetooth scanning on, maybe turning them on would be a good idea? anyways, here is a screenshot of that too: https://imgur.com/a/T8btCTU

I think wifi scanning might be needed if you're inside when testing.

Kottonballs I tested this both inside and outside, the same results persist.

I turned it on with no luck. The same thing in my previous post applies.
I also tried to use bluetooth scanning alongside it, but with no luck. The logs are the same as the one I posted above. https://imgur.com/a/T8btCTU

Wow, It feels like a week has passed since I posted this.

It apparently wasn't working because my area is generally not detectable with satellites because of the structre of the buildings nearby and my own. GPS works when I'm a bit further out. Bruh.

          Hi @ardishco,
were you able to solve the issue?

I observe same problem , also it fixes itself randomly and momentarily .

          2 years later

Having a similar issue - Google Maps can detect my location, but https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.widget.uvindex can not (even though it has location access). I gave Google Play Services access to my location, disabled rerouting location requests to OS, and turned on Improve Location Accuracy, but for some reason the UV index app doesn't find my location.

            4 days later

I have Google Play installed but always disabled. And had a problem that no any of map apps could find my location until I enabled this option: "Use precise location" in every app permission settings. Though on my previous Pixel with Google I never enabled precise location and location worked fine.

ardishco GrapheneOS now has built-in network location you can start using. It's currently in the Beta channel and will likely reach the Stable channel tomorrow.
